In 1950, Volkswagen released a "forward control" light commercial vehicle known as the Type 2. One of the original cargo vans, it spawned the advent of the van revolution. Built strictly for utility, the Type 2, which ultimately was offered in several body types, was notorious for low horsepower but trustworthy performance. As the Type 2 vans began arriving in the United States, they were met with wide acclaim for both their utility and appeal as multi-purpose vehicles. Cargo, passenger and camping variants of the Type 2 could be found, with varying numbers of windows, throughout the US.

This 1965 Volkswagen 23-window microbus camper re-creation is the result of a thorough nut-and-bolt restoration completed in 2022. Powered by a rebuilt stock 1500cc flat-4 air-cooled engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, this bus is an absolute joy to drive. The simplicity of the mechanics of this car lend to its appeal. The van's 12-volt electrical system was redone during restoration, along with the brakes and suspension parts. Period-correct bell pans were also added to the undercarriage for improved structural rigidity. This re-creation is painted two-tone gray and white on the exterior and is complimented by a vinyl Sand and Walnut interior. Safari windows, pop-out side windows, a retractable vinyl sunroof and dual front and rear roof racks with a side ladder make this van standout amongst others. The van's camper interior, with the back seats facing each other, a fixed center table, USB-powered water sink with a rechargeable spout, mini-fridge, folding rear bench seat that can turn into a bed, window curtains and storage space make you want to pack up and hit the road in it. This is undoubtedly one of the coolest VW campers on the market today.

Unless stated otherwise, mileage shown on odometer is exempt and unknown if original.
